As an ONCAMPUS student you will be introduced to a wide variety of student activities and traditions that Lund has to offer.Considered the best student city in Sweden, Lund University is known for its variety of student organisations, including the 'nations' of Lund, the Academic Society and student unions. If you’ve read anything about Swedish student life, you may have heard about the ‘Nations’. In Lund there are 13 different student run societies (‘Nations’) that host various activities through the week including, lunches and dinners, pubs, sports, formal balls and best of all a night out in their club. Lund University (LU) is one of the world’s top 100 universities and the most popular university in Sweden for international students. In addition to academic and research excellence, LU is famous for its unique student life that includes the historic student ‘nations’ offering social activities all year round. Lund student life is based on three central structures: the student nations, the Academic Society (AF) and the student unions. Before July 1, 2010, students were required to enroll in a student union, nation or AF in order to receive grades at the university, but this is no longer compulsory.

Twice a year – usually in February and September – current Lund University students are invited to apply for University and nation scholarships. Students are most likely to get a scholarship when they are in their 5–8th semester at Lund University. The next application period will be open from 16 February to 1 March . Former nations Skånska Nationen (circa 1674–1889) Originally, all Scanian people enrolled in Skånska nationen. However, due to growth of the University the nation was dissolved in 1890 into five parts: Lunds Nation, Malmö Nation, Helsingkrona Nation, Ystad Nation (later Sydskånska Nationen) and Kristianstad Nation. Nationernas främsta uppgift är den sociala verksamheten utanför studierna. En stor del av deras aktiviteter består av matservering, pubar och nattklubbar.
